As a securities litigation expert, we run event studies, loss-causation analysis, and class-wide damages models for investment disputes and fraud claims. The work draws on our financial misconduct, forensic accounting, and economic consulting and valuation practices. Filings and market data from the SEC anchor the analysis.

What a securities litigation expert quantifies

  • Event studies — abnormal return analysis to test whether the alleged disclosure moved the price, and by how much.
  • Loss causation and materiality — separating the effect of the alleged misstatement from market and industry movement.
  • Class-period damages — per-share inflation and aggregate damages under the trading models courts actually accept.
  • Trader behavior — modeling share turnover to estimate the damaged population.
  • ERISA plan losses — imprudent-investment and company-stock claims.

Claim types we work

  • Rule 10b-5 class actions
  • Section 11 and offering cases
  • ERISA class actions
  • Market manipulation claims
  • Insider trading allegations
  • Misstatements and omissions
  • M&A and appraisal disputes
  • Class certification and predominance

Our economists work across debt, equity, derivative and commodity markets, and a large part of the job is making price formation legible to a judge or jury who do not trade for a living.

What we need to start

For the conflict check, party names only.

Once engaged: the class period and alleged corrective disclosures, security identifiers, offering and filing documents, and trading data. Much of it is public, which means a preliminary read on whether an event study will show anything is often possible quickly — and worth doing before the complaint is finalised.

Frequently asked questions

Can you tell early whether an event study will support the claim?

Often, yes. Price and volume data around the alleged disclosure dates are public, and a preliminary look will show whether there is a statistically significant move to build on. That is a short piece of work and it is better done before positions harden.

Do you handle class certification as well as damages?

Yes. At certification the question is usually whether damages are measurable on common proof and whether market efficiency holds. Both are empirical questions about the specific security.

Can you work as a rebuttal expert?

Yes, and a meaningful share of securities work is rebuttal. Tell us which role you need at the conflict-check stage.

What are your rates?

We send the rate schedule and a full CV with the proposal after the scoping call, so you are pricing against a defined scope.
